I didn't know there were any LC alumni outside the state of New Jersey.

If we had five Blairs ont he floor, we might've kept it close.

81-51 final score. Nice effort by LU. The pressure in the fullcourt by UK got to LU in the second half.

Someone other than Blair needs to step up their scoring if we are to be more competitive.

Rell Porter is playing like a beast. I'm very impressed with the kid. That's great to hear. I only saw the box score and this was the first thing I noticed: Name FG 3Pt FT PF Pts Rell Porter 0-2 0-1 0-0 4 0 The guy is a fouling machine but he does hustle. Hopefully he works as hard at getting better as he does in games.

Rell had nine rebounds, was very aggressive defensively going up against three different 7-footers. His offense needs to come around, but his energy can be contagious.
UK didn't press in the second half much. Liberty just stopped making shots and the Cats got on a roll.

Not a bad showing against Kentucky, despite the final outcome. It's always nice to see you hang with one of the best teams in the nation for a while, even if they wind up blowing you out of the water early in the second half.

I was listening to the game while hanging lights on our tree tonight. Based on Jerry's call, it seemed like once we started missing shots we had no one really working the boards after the break. Blair was Blair and seemed to relish the opportunity to be seen on a bigger stage.
I like how Coach D said in his postgame interview that he used these games to expose our weaknesses. Well, it certainly did that down the stretch. Thankfully we won't be playing too many teams of UK's calibre the rest of the way.
All in all, it was as good of a night as you could possibly expect in a 30-point loss. Longwood will seem like a high school JV team after running the floor with the Wildcats.

I followed as much as possible. Thank you DirecTv for NOT giving me a regional sports channel though i get charged for one each month (they blame Comcast- ?)
anyway- it was great to see us hang in there the first half, and the 2nd half was predictable- though not as ugly as it could have been. Good experience that will REALLY pay off in the conf match-ups. Look out, Winthrop!

by the way, nice editing in the piece on the official site: I assume the place was not actually hollowed out, rather- it is looked upon (by SOMEONE) as a "hallowed" venue.

another thing (s) while I'm on a roll here- nice to see LB lead all scorers, great quote by Dunton on ESPN about "disappointed in the second half...we're not here for moral victories" (like that focus/drive)
lastly- Winthop is going to have a GREAT challenge in that Memphis game. Anybody else watch them nearly take down Duke last nite in the NIT? WOW

Memphis is going to be dangerous this year. I watched both of there games at the Garden and Wiliams and Carney are soild 1-2 punch. I really believe that there is no clear cut #1 team this year. Drexel gave Dook fits on Wednesday in the Garden. Winthrop though will have there hands full. Good news is we should have plenty of pics from last nights game FSN32 made the trip and took a ton of pics. Check out our website in the next few days www.flamessports.com and they should be up there shortly.

I really believe that there is no clear cut #1 team this year. Agreed, although consider this: Uconn has beaten a pretty good SEC team with a top 10 draft pick in Ronnie Brewer, and 2 top 10 teams all in 3 days. They did this all with a freshman PG and really just playing sloppy. That should scare everybody, and I firmly believe come February, the nation will have a #1 team.

I guess Drexel hanging with Duke and losing by 1 to UCLA makes them a mid-major power, LOL (sorry realist-don't think we're ever going to let you live that one down).
Anyway, can't wait till we play Longwood and conference play starts up, we're definitely going to be a contender.

Never going to let me live it down? We're ranked top ten mid majors---that's called a mid major power. You'll be contending for second place, if that.

Great first half showing, loved the fact the guys were fired up and ready to compete, and competed well, but the one thing that still is unsettling with me......
Blair 26 pts Hubbard 13pts rest of team.....12pts

Never going to let me live it down? We're ranked top ten mid majors---that's called a mid major power. You'll be contending for second place, if that. uhh, there's no official ranking for that. ESPN used to do their top 10 mid-major and even that didn't hold water. Plus I don't think they do it anymore. However, the top 25 poll 1. Gonzaga 2. George Washington 3. Nevada 4. ODU 5. Northern Iowa 6. New Mexico 7. Hawaii 8. Xavier 9. Western Kentucky 10. Utah 11. Utah State 12. Bucknell all are not in power conferences and all received top 25 votes. I'd say you're not in the top 10.

Depends on what site you use. In the mid major official poll we're something like 9th. Should go up after last week and tonight, after winning by 30 and leading by as much as 40 in the second half over Portland, picked to finish third in the West Coast Conference. Martin was hurt in the second half though, not sure the severity.

In the mid major official poll we're something like 9th. I haven't ever heard of that before... where did you see it. For you to say that it is official... that would mean it was given by the NCAA?

www.collegeinsider.com/mmpoll/I was wrong, 11th in the most recognized Mid-major poll. But after the ORU loss, they should move up into at least 10th if not higher. They absolutely blew Portland out last night. Bradshaw will be a first team all conference player. Looks like Martin just got a stinger on his good knee. Should be ok.

REALIST: how do you see the Memphis game? thats a very good team from what they've shown so far- then again, a lot can happen by the time you guys meet later this season.

WEF/REALIST- Inadvertently overlooked this: 'Bama is also ranked- as high as 18th in the AP poll I believe. That should be a good game as well.

PA, I have no idea. For some reason I would say we have a better shot at Alabama, but I'm not basing that on any knowledge. Memphis is good. Real good. This is the best team I've ever seen at WU in the first 3 games, but who knows how they'll stack up against Memphis.

Good luck against the Crimson Tide. Winthrop has a shot to knock them off. But only time will tell.
