I can confirm that David Dees is going to Louisiana Monroe after talking with him today. David, I wish you nothing but success and good luck.

Sunbelt!
Man, he's better than that. I'm assuming since he didnt go to ASU but stayed in the Sunbelt that we can come to the conclustion that his brother will get a schollie there?

Upon further review it may be the Southland Conference. They're in the Sunbelt for other sports I guess. Here's a snipit of an article on their website. It tell you what Dees has to look forward to:

Wow! He must REALLY want a change of scenery. He's going to sit out an entire year to play for that dumpy little school in that dumpy little town that is backwater even for Louisiana? Bizarre. Tiger Dave can vouch for how low on the totem poll that school is.
But obviously David feels that is the place for him. I wish him nothing but the best. And we occasionally have that school play here in the Houston area. If I see him, I'll pass on best wishes. He seems like a good kid who didn't fit as nicely as he would've liked. Too bad.

Wow...that is a strange move indeed, but if that's what he wants to do, more power to him. I'll miss watching him play though...he's near the top of the list of opposing players in the league that I liked to watch play. But then again, he always seemed to put up 20+ against WU, so I can't say I'm too sad to see him go.

ATrain... did he say why. It's one thing to lose a guy to a better situation but this smells bad.

He must have just wanted out in the worst way to go to ULM. The other point if he was such a phenom why were his options of schools to transfer to so limited? I hate to say it but it kind of speaks to the level of play in the BSC.

If LU isn't a good fit for him, and I mean socially or with regard to the "religious" atmosphere, I understand the move. The lifestyle may not have been all he desired, in which case, best to move on. He is very young and may regret the move later on in life- but we all live and learn. Best of luck to you, David.

That totally sucks that David Dees had to leave. It will be difficult to replace him in the lineup. He was one of the best outside shooters that LU has ever had. Hopefully Coach Dunton can get a another recruit to replace him probably another JUCO or count on some of the early recruits.

From my sources, I believe he is going to Louisiana Lafayette.

Well, there is a huge difference between La.-Monroe and U-La-La...if he decided to be a Cajun, the whole thing makes much more sense.

Isn't Dees from Ohio?
An ohio boy going to Lafayette? That is going to be some culture shock.

It is Lafayette. Dees called me on Friday and told me the news. He is extremely excited to go and feels that he has a great chance of getting to the next level going to the Ragin Cajuns than at LU. I am not going to sit here and tell you that is the main reason why he is leaving though. I won't go into all the in's and outs of his situation but is was clear that he was not happy as a Liberty Flame. His little brother Steve may follow him there but that is not a given. Steve is a rising senior and should have some options. The coaching staff there basically won him over. As far as options, David had a lot of options in terms of being able to play but just like a high school senior you only get 5 visits and you have to use them wisely. He seemed happy with his decision and I wish him well. I will count him as a friend and a brother as I do all of my fellow former Flames.

USL makes much more sense than Louisiana-Monroe. Although I would beg to differ on it increasing his potential to launch him into the pro ranks. He'll enjoy the best cajun food on the planet.
I think we all assumed that this move was primarily for off the court reasons. Otherwise, it still is rather curious. Particularly if its not a package deal with his little brother.
But we all wish him the best over in LA-fay-ette.

Actually now that I think about it I think he did say Louisian Lafayette...I knew when I type in L-Monroe that something didn't sound right, I just couldn't think of any other schools besides LaTech and LSU....but no, I didn't ask him why he was leaving, but it is a shame to see him go.

Where is this news on the Liberty sports website, along with the LOI's that have been signed this spring, if any?
I believe you have to report the bad and the good about our sports programs to have any crediability.

I don't think any school's athletics page would report where a player is transfering to. That's where the local media comes in and gives us the information we need. In this case the media couldn't care less and that's why it's not being reported.

You would think they would care on WSET. As somebody in the business (granted in a much larger market), I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't be mentioning where one of the star players for one of the only shows in town is transferring to. But it would require at least an ounce of effort. That's probably too much to ask in Lynchburg. Why sacrifice limited airtime with a local story when you can run highlights off the feed or Pathfire.

The reason why it hasn't made anything anywhere is b/c right now all the paperwork hasn't gone through yet. But Dees himself told me he was transferrin

By this point, saying the story "broke" is laughable.
Enjoy the boudin, David.

Good luck to David. This really does put us further behind the 8 ball going into 05-06.
