Wow! What an incredible way to close out the Big South Tourney! So for just the second time ever, the Flames are back in the Big Dance.
I remember the last trip and watching the first three-quarters of the game against Dean Smith's Carolina Tarheels thinking we might have just enought o be the first ever 16-seed to beat a 1-seed. Obviously, it didn[t work out that way.
Now we have a week to wait to hear whether or not we'll be playing in the Play-in game in Dayton. Frankly, that sounds good to me. We would be on national television with no other competition except a few meaningless NBA regular season games and perhaps an NIT matchup in Boise or someplace far removed from most of America. And then there's the little factor of actually having a chance to win a game.
Viva Coach Dunton! I admit I was one of the ones bemoaning the hire as another retread on a car swerving straight for the ditch. But he's proven to be a very solid hire.

Definitely a great way to head to the tourny. ESPN projects Liberty not going to the playin game, but opening against #1 seed St. Joe's. If I had to pick a #1 seed to playagainst, it would be St. Joe's. The playin game wouldn't be bad though. Can't wait until they announce the brackets.

Well, I sincerely doubt they'll be meeting St. Joe's in the opening round ... the posers were exposed by my hometown Xavier Muskies. They'll likely be a #2 seed now.
The Flames will need some shocking upsets in the other low level conference tourneys to move out of the play-in game. The Big South doesn't carry much prestige ... don't even get my friend steveV started on that subject.
What I find hard to believe is that this is only our second trip to the tourney. Playing in the pathetic Big South, we should be perennial tourney entries.
But lets enjoy this moment while we can.

I agree. Liberty is the sleeping giant of the Big South. I think if we can build on this season with another title next season, we would have the momentum we need to take control of the conference....
But I'm getting ahead of myself. Lets go make some noise in the Big Dance first.
