Any thoughts? I'm going to go to the game. I'm super optimistic - I hope we can hang in there for a half.
My prediction UVA 88 LU 50
(but something like UVA 38 LU 30 at half)

You're optimistic we can lose by 38? Come on, dude. I'm hoping we can do better than that.

I'm thinking that we put up a good show for a half, and then run out of gas...
That's not the same as getting blown out from the get-go.
I hope we do better! Hey...I'll do my best to help...although my noismakers were deemed illegal on the Big South Website ask the commissioner... (I had clappers painted red and blue for LU).

Well I was in up at UVA yesterday as I am every Tuesday and talked with Coach Leitao. This is not a team that is 38 points better than us. I am really looking forward to the backcourt matchups Blair and Risher against J.R Reynolds and Sean Singletary (Both are the co-captians). This is not a healthy UVA team right now in last weeks Exhibition game on Friday against Concordia they only dressed 7 scholarship players. Donte Minter is day to day and TJ Bannester is out for a few weeks. This team is really going to count of Singletary and Reynolds who are both great guards. They combined for 47 points in the Exhibition. But I feel like we have a great chance to go up and score the upset. Coach Dunton has the led the troops up there before and gotten a W and we have a good chance to do it again.

Now that's optomistic... to the point of red colored glasses and blue kool-aid. We are soooo young and inexperienced... even if UVa is rebuilding... they are still ACC talent. Is it possible... yes. Is there a "good" chance... no. Let's say... maybe we can keep it close.

Singletary is gonna drop 40 on us alone. Even if our guys played good defense we don't have anybody that could guard him, and they don't. LU 56 UVA 79

We should be able to hang tough within 15 or 20 points I hope. Hopefully won't be like last years Miami (Ohio) or Maryland game. Certainly not what we need right now.

gimme you must be UVA hater. though i love my alma mater, they have zero chance to beat the hoos. SS and JR will be too much and look for adrian joesph to have a good game and the big lithuanian from blue ridge school has good touch. LU's frontcourt is much more suspect than UVA's, and dave leitao is preaching defense. this is not a petey gillen team. im looking forward to seeing this game in the last season at the old dump U-Hall.....UVA 85 LU 56

Smoothie, don't take too many shots at Petey because you may get to hang out with him soon. He has been around a couple of times this past few weeks and with all the insiders you know, your paths will cross more than likely. Also it was Jeff Jones that lost to Liberty but I am sure you all knew that one.

Thats funny Fsn. I had a good one I was going to put on the other Rumor thread. I was going to tell everyone that I know everything about Karcher and Park etc. but I am "not at Liberty to say". :-).
OK so it was not that good. ;D

i like petey. he just lost his troops. he is the king of one liners, and to those who listen to rome " certainly duke is duke. their on tv more than leave it to beaver re-runs". i did not want to correct the poster who said petey lost to the flames. i remember hearing a lot of UVA boosters saying "JJ must go" after that game!

I've stated my appreciation for Pete going back to his days at Xavier before whe he was brought up on this forum. He's a great guy who will be back on a bench when he really wants to be.
smoothie -- I love Romey doing his impression of the "Certainly Duke is Duke" line.

it is classic sly. i laugh every time. i wish i had a tape of all of rome's soundbites! talk about total laughter! i agree petey will be back on the sidelines, after he takes a good break. i am surprised he still lives in charlottesville.

Well I am not a UVA hater I work for them, I just think that this is a UVA team that is not near at 100% and we have a chance to be close, I covered almost every home game last year and they don't put away teams at home like they should. All I am saying is this one could be very interesting.

Good luck tonight against the Cavs...Since I used to live in Maryland for a while and the Terps are my favorite non-Winthrop team, I can't stand UVA. It won't be easy for you guys, but I don't see the Flames getting blown out either...keep it close, and who knows what can happen at the end.

Down 20-6 with 13:40 to go in the half. Not a good way to start the season.

There was a time when we could give UVA a good game. Hang tough within 15 or 20 points. I guess those days are gone for now. Hopefully this is just an adjustment time for the new comers to get used to each other. I really didn't expect this kind of embarrassment.
