LU - 248 UM - 13
Dunton "coaches" Seth Dlckey to pick fights with Mayrland's starting 5 and also players 6-9 in warmups. All involved are ejected. Maryland is forced to play with only 3 men on the court and LU takes advantage. While UM takes the 13-9 lead at the half, Blair comes out blazing in the 2nd half. He doesn't pass the ball a single time and scores a season high 239 points. The Defence locks down on an exhausted 3 man Maryland squad (who has no reserves left), and shuts them out in the 2nd. The 2 LU fans in attendence storm the court at the end and get carried off by Dunton and that assistant he has that looks like Super Mario. Game of the Century.

I tried in vain to find a line on this game but Vegas won't touch this one with a 10-foot pole.
I guess if you are going to dream, LUconn, you might as well dream big. But I'll take a somewhat more pragmatic approach to the action tonight. My prediction:
Liberty 64 23 Maryland 105
I'd love to keep the margin of victory below 40, but come on ...

The final result ... a 44-point loss that could've been 88 if the Terps so shose. Its best to simply push this non-conference portion of the schedule as far from our memory banks as possible. Sheesh.

we've been beaten by a combined 88 points in the last 2 games. I'd love to put this behind us but the game was on Jefferson Pilot in the area so I got to watch it. I have a new hatred reserved just for Gary Williams. He still had all 5 starters in when they were up 40. He didn't take Nic CanerMedley out until about the 2 minute mark. They were also tight on men for 40 minutes all the way to the half court line. Who does that? usually around 25+ you let up a tad. He was obviously running up the score. I hope he drowns in his own sweat.

How long will these big programs schedule us if they are mercifully beating us by 40+ points? I did not see the game, but from the ESPN article, Maryland looked like they could have scored 130+ points !!!!! That kind of beating is a waste of time for these big programs. They want at least a bit of a challenge, but from last nights performance it sounds like Maryland's starters could have got a better game playing their own third stringers. Looks like another downer year for Liberty and even though the university is easy on their coaches expectations, Dunton won't last very long if he goes from a Big South championship season, to a single digit wins season. If Dunton and the Flames tank this year and next, I can see them pulling the trigger rather quickly. How much longer does Dunton have on his contract anyway??

belcherboy --- First off, thanks for registering. The Marylands & NC States of the basketball world will continue to schedule Mid-Major pushovers to pad their win total for NCAA selection time. Programs in major conferences like the ACC have a strong enough schedule based on league play that they are glad to schedule schools like Liberty to make their overall record look more impressive to the selection committee. And keep in mind, these games were probably set up based on last year's tourney team results. It will be little tougher to land these high profile dates coming off this disappointing run.
