Well it's finally here game 1. For those that will not be able to be there, there is only one way to catch the game and that's on www.flamesports.com This will be the only game that will not be on TV or streamed on the web. Jamie will not be with me, so we have called on the one and only Ray Jones from FTN. Pregame will be 6:30 and the opening tip is slated for 7.

Shouts out to my main man Ray Jones...Sorry gmtm but I would have loved to help you on this one. We will work together real soon I am sure....Gotta go to Charlottesville on this one as you know. I can't wait to see how the Ladies do. I watched them practice yesterday and I don't see much of a drop off from last year's team other than not having a big center. But last year's team didn't have Megan Frazee.

Scar, you're right ... last year's team did not have Megan and by the time she graduates she's going to be SICK (I mean that in the best way possible) ... i really think that this team will be better then last year's (no offense) ... they're gonna press all night long ... get ready for an exciting year!

This team definitely has potential and no seniors. I have liked what I have seen thus far. Only question is who is going to step up in the post. Otherwise in every other position on the floor, we are stacked in my opinion.

This was a good tuneup for the UNC game next week.

Initial impression: Megan Frazee is a serious player. She looked like a senior last night, not a player who was playing her first collegiate game. She just projects confidence. She could very well be the player of the year in the conference. Quite a pull for Liberty.
To compete against UNC, LU must: 1) Cut down on the turnovers and 2) work on not giving up so many offensive rebounds.

If we average 12 or less turnovers per game, we can play with anybody. A lot of our turnovers last night were balls that were thrown at the players feet whether it be in transition or whether it be a bounce pass into the posts. (Nothing that can't be fixed) I thought we took good shots and those will fall. The team didn't melt down against full court pressure. UNC will pressure in the full court for the entire game. We will need to really crash the boards hard against UNC. The game was quite physical last night. Unfortunately we try to save the ball from going out of bounds and that is a TO as well but I like the hustle with this team. Defensively I really liked what I saw. When VUU got within 17 in the second half we really clamped down on defense.

I thought that looked like the photo from the DePaul game or Penn State game when they realized they were moving on!
the "official" site has a real problem w/ doing this- posting old pix on a new story. During the FB season they kept posting shots of Terrell in the UConn game every time they mentioned the kid in a TOTALLY unrelated manner.
gotta get that site under local control.
but thanx for the correction

Doesn't say too much for the webmaster does it!
For the ladies it looks like the preseason is over. Time to get down to some real hoops. Good luck vs North Carolina. Hope for a competitive game.

Just so you know, Liberty's photographer just got out of the hospital so they have to use the pictures they have ... also, even if he was there shooting he is not able turn pictures around that fast. So, every picture they use is going to be old.

Actually, it wouldn't be that difficult to have some students with digital cameras take a few shots from down on the sideline. It wouldn't cost the school any money and it would offer an opportunity for some of our journalism majors (who will have to take their own pictures at most entry-level jobs) to get some practical experience.
Thankfully we had the guy provide those pics at UConn for us this season. Because the fishwrap doesn't seem to help us out much with photos either, we seem to lack photographic evidence of our existence at times. And considering this past football season, perhaps that is a blessing.
Big thanks to our FSN guys who do a great job with their limited resources.

YOU'RE KIDDING, RIGHT?
and SLY - I was reading that thinking the same thing. If I can keep a digital camera in the medic unit, take shots on the scene and attach them to my report 15 minutes later, I should THINK a D1 athletic dept could come up w/ a HANDFUL of pix for a story to be posted on the website a couple HOURS later!
