Game one of two games at good old historic Reynolds on Sat. Talking with Coach Green, it seems like both teams like to push the ball and want an uptempo type of game. Should be interesting, I plan on talking to Moriah this week and have a few other surprises for the weekend in Raliegh. FSN32 comes back from TV for this weekend. Glad to have the leader of this crazy crew back.

Hopefully we will win and play NC State for the title on Sunday. Should be an interesting weekend. Elon is going to get run over by the Wolfpack.

We need to clean up the turnovers if we want a win over our C-USA teams this season (Southern Miss, Southern Meth.). I think ifwe can do that and be a little more accurate with our shots, especially from 3-point land, we can take on most anybody.

Really? I didn't realize that baldspot. Do you know which sports he covers? I'll try to meet up with him at UH or Rice because I don't come across many LU alumni down here in sports.

Good ol Mike Montero. That is a blast from the past. Quick Montero story. We were on a road trip with the team and we were flying out of some airport. We got there late as a team so all the managers and a couple of coaches start to check everyone in and we let the team go straight to the gates along with coach D and Coach Meyer. Me and Coach Nazigian, the managers and Mike Montero are loading bags and he takes the bag off of my shoulder without me even realizing. Well there was a reason I was holding that bag close. It had all the trip money (5 grand or so in CASH!). It was going to be my carry on of course. Mike had already put it on the conveyor belt before I even noticed it was missing. That was 10 minutes of absolute panic because everyone knows those bags get opened by the workers from time to time and how many people are going to turn down 5 grand in cash...Thank God they brought it back up to me cash in tact. Mike felt so bad but it worked out in the end.

We cannot afford to look past Southern Miss...yes, I know, they "only" compete in C-USA, but thats still a far better conference than the Big South. And yes, looking at past schedules we've gotten wins over West Virginia, Kentucky and other "big conference schools" in the past, but we still must focus on who's next and who's after.

I agree. I mentioned the WVU and Kentucky wins in a post on men's basketball as a guest was ripping us by saying "Go Flames - beat Lynchburg College". However, I do think that the girls this year need to take every game seriously. (And the guys REALLY need to take Lynchburg College seriously after what happened last night).

Another Mike Montoro story. About two weeks after 9/11 So. Miss was playing PSU in football. Mike invited me to meet him during the Friday night walk thru at Beaver Stadium. I showed up at the gate a couple minutes early. When the team buses arrived I started to walk in with the team when about 300 rent a cops tried to arrest me. Ok I'm exaggerating. Big Mike almost wasn't able to get me out of that one though. The ESPN people were inside the stadium to talk to Mike about interviews etc. Afterward, we had dinner with JoePa and some newspaper reporters at the Nittany Lion Inn. JoePa had so many stories to tell the evening went on for several hours. The So Miss people were impressed he would spend any time at all with them. I think Mike's official title is Director of Media Relations. Last I checked he covered football and baseball and his asst covered basketball. Last year he was president of the college baseball writers assn. Someone from Ohio State was his asst.

71-60 over a C-USA team isn't bad, even if it is Southern Miss. NC State I know usually hovers around the bottom of the Top 25 and fell to Middle Tennessee State in the first round.
