I actually attended a few soccer games this year and was actually impressed. In the game against Coastal Carolina who was ranked #23 at the time we actually had a few fights. We lost 3-1 i think but it was horrible ref-job. We got like 3 red cards a few yellows while Coastal had one yellow. There was a brawl in the 2nd period in Coastal's goal that a player actually broke his leg on. For the last i think 6 minutes of the game if there was any contact it was automatic red. It was an out of control game!

when I left LU they had just built a new soccer field/outdoor track down behind the football ops center I believe (near David's Place)
Do they still use that? there were NO bleachers or seating facilities of any kind at the time.
Is David's Place still around? It was only open one, maybe two semesters when I was there.

The soccer team is always very physical. That's what I love about the sport. Yes, they still use that field next to the football stadium, and there are some metal bleachers, but it's not much seating. Most people have to stand.
David's Place is still there, and went through a big renovations a few years ago. But with the new Student Center in the Erickson building and the student lounges all around campus now, I don't think many people use David's Place. I think they have classes there for the Worship program.

The LaHaye Student Center, LaHaye Lounge and the ClubHouse for us Eastsiders at the Country Club (Hill is Projects, Circle is Ghetto...you can find maps drawn in dust every now and then).

Is it a takeoff of the new flames logo Proto came up with, or a different one altogether? Can't really tell from the few shots I've seen- again, branding is a major issue here and we don't seem consistent. I could be wrong. (has happened ONCE before- thought I was wrong but I wasn't)

No its not a new takeoff from the flames logo...its something different all together. Its Liberty University with swooshes goin in a ying-yang like direction around the words. Maybe one day we'll get the brand recognition we need...maybe

who authorizes changing the logo every week? what, each team VOTES on what they want? whats next- pink uni's cause they look cute? (not to be sexist: could easily be mauve or jet black to intimidate) the point is CONSISTENCY.
maybe I'm just irritable today. not enough coffee yet.

VERY SLOPPY MATCH! campbell's crowd was terrific in this old big south matchup. i admire the comeback capability in our boys, but our defense is very suspect...it is still early and it is OOC. jeff will get the boys going!

Seems like the mens soccer team has gone downhill since Bill Bell left them a few years back. What is going on with them anyway?

I can't say too much about the teams they are losing to right now. Campbell, App State, and Gardner Webb are not exactly great soccer programs.

i think jeff is doing a good job, but the guys are not playing well this year. keep in mind the BSC teams are improving esp. coastal...they have gone to the dance. we may be slipping a bit. we should be beating teams like gardner-webb and app. campbell has always been a solid program, and our old BSC battles were very good. george mason alwys gets a a lot of players from the talent no. virginia area. yes coach bell was very solid, but i will do some checking, i do not think we ever won a BSC championship under bell. on other things i got a chance to see the boys play wofford last night, and they played well. it was cool to see a former player that i coached in select soccer back in the day playing at wofford.....he is now a senior and i feel really old now!

One think hurting the team is that there best player is hurt but should return this weekend according to Coach Alder at yesterdays Flames Club lunch. He did mention that VA Tech will not be coming to Lynchburg to play us anymore. Said that after last years game 2-1 game there coach said they will not play us in Lynchburg

A lot of heresay- but did the coach indicate they felt the game was called unfairly- or merely felt they were playing in a hostile environment?
In which case, maybe the Hokies coach should petition the NCAA to allow them to play ALL their games at home. SMOOTHIE- your teams could potentially have winning records in all sports!
