Sly - they fill Reliant now right? VY wouldnt put anymore butts in the seats or add any more revenue to the corporate boxes or signage? The only thing I could see him significantly add is merchandise revenue, but that is shared under the collective bargaining agreement.

Actually, they sellout every game at Reliant but this season it generally was half empty. Perhaps that was a combination of the Texans being so awful and the Astros competing with them for the first first few months. But ticket prices could be raised if you give the people what they want. I also believe Houstonians will be more patient in waiting on Young to develop than they would with Bush if he kept them from getting their hometown hero. The Texans find themselves both amazingly blessed to be choosing between two incredible talents and cursed. In all likelihood the player they don't take will come back to haunt them for years to come.
I'm hearing its looking more & more like Vince could very well end up being the #1 overall pick ofthe Texans. Supposedly both the Saints & Titans are poised to take Vince so Houston would have to take him #1 overall.
The scenario is complicated by the salary cap and trying to get some value out of Carr should they go with Vince. If they give Carr the $8mil bonus to lock him up for three more years, that bonus counts against the Texans cap even if they trade him. While the cap is expected to rise the next couple of years based on increased revenue, it is a factor.
RBs is generally easier to find than franchise QBs. And with the Texans already solid at RB with Domanick Davis the inclination is to go with Vince not even factoring in the public outcry for his arrival.
The Texans have a slew of picks in this draft including the first two in the 3rd Round. So they believe they can fill some of their other holes through the draft and free agency whether their pick is Young or Bush. But if they trade Carr they most certainly should be able to land another starter or two in return since there is a big market for QBs of Carr's calibre (even if he has spent much of his career on his duff).
