Tonight on WSET they did something live from Lexington in commemoration of the debut of War of the Worlds (part of which was actually filmed in Lexington). For their sports segment they had a long clip of us whipping VMI this year at their place while interviewing the coach and noted the "growing intense rivalry between Liberty and VMI". A few of their key players are returning, and the coach is hoping "for a better result" this year down at our place. Now-who among us is going to be at Williams Stadium, being one of the many who shall comprise the "12th man" in order to prevent that from happening? *stretches arm..."oooo, ooooo, ME ME"*

As bad as VMI is in football, a win against them should be a given. That is if LU had any kind of respectable football team this year. If we consider VMI our rival then we have problems. That is all I have to say about that.

NEVER use the term "12th Man" associated with my alma mater. Never.

As bad as VMI is in football, a win against them should be a given. That is if LU had any kind of respectable football team this year. If we consider VMI our rival then we have problems. That is all I have to say about that. *sigh*-apparently I need to explain this rivalry with VMI to yall. A few years back, before I was a freshman, according to my roomie in spring 04 who was a senior, some VMI students made remarks about our wonderful lovely ladies as being a bunch of "female dogs" and "prostitutes" (I'll refrain from using the exact terms). This is the source of the immense feelings of dislike between our schools. Anyone at the VMI BBall game at the Vines can recall signs being held that said "West Point Rejects" and "Virginia's Most Illiterate" Plus we need a school close by to be a good rival, and while Radford will remain the traditional rival, I think we've been able to get the folks in Lexington and at High Point pretty riled up about us. BJ-yes, E6 will be great...we should definitely ignite some school spirit in that dorm...but for the record, I am NEVER taking my shirt off and painting my chest ever again. I felt naked the whole time I was in Chatty for the Sweet 16. And Sly...the fans at Williams Stadium, as school spirit increases, will act like a 12th man...maybe Texas fans need to learn from A&M about fanmanship (sorry-couldn't resist )

We should do everything necessary to promote and create a rivalry with VMI (within the bounds of what is socially acceptable!). Having a little healthy dislike in sports makes it fun. Plus they are close to us and have many alums in Central VA. I'm glad VMI is in the BSC. I'd like to see us develop some healthy dislike with other I-AA Virginia schools like it was with Madison back in the day!
