looking down the road i really do not see where LU fits in with any league except for the southern. as it stands now the A-10/Colonial has 12 teams. with ODU and GA.State looking hard and George Mason also toying with the idea of starting up a program, 15 teams is way too much for one league. If they split up again the existing A-10 would have 6 members, and the colonial would have 9 members assuming the schools without teams start up. with all that said maybe the A-10 would want to add some teams. i would rather see this than a great west merger, but again this is so far down the road, but fun to speculate. one other idea is to get ETSU back to playing football and boom... a sixth member for the BSC. They have good facilities and tradition of playing in the southern. just some thoughts on a hot wednesday afternoon. man i need some football!!!!!

I think we're stuck in this conference until 1A, if that ever happens. But if you just want to speculate if you're bored, you can't count things out because of the number of teams or factors like that. As much as it sucks, these conferences will be in perpetual change of members, maybe taking off a year here or there staying the same. So, if they've got 12 now, it may be a different 12 in 2 years.

I tend to agree with LUconn. No one is chasing us and there just don't appear to be any better options out there in the foreseeable future. There is going to another bigtime realignment in the next few years. There has to be with all the schools adding football and others stepping up.
And don't rule out some major changes on the I-A/I-AA front from the NCAA in the near future. Too many schools are losing money for there to not be some new lines drawn.

Great point Sly. There are a few programs hanging on in DI that might find it a better go in DI-AA with regards to attendence and stadium size. For some of these programs getting an average of 17,000 fans per game in liue of a 30,000 seat stadium is a challenge. The disadvantage is football is expensive whether it's DI or DI-AA. being DI gives you the shot at bowl games, TV exposure and more $$$ to fund the programs. In I-AA you are pretty much looking for guarantee games to make up the $$$.
