"Wouldnt he be the natural choice to take his daddy's spot at FSU?"
Haha no. Not even close!

Hate to burst your bubble, but the meeting is not to announce a coach ...

A former coach is on campus talking to the kids ... that's what the meeting is about.

All the Bowden's need is one good year (see Penn State this year). People have a short term memory when it comes to winning. Knock off Florida and Miami on the way to an ACC championship, Bowden Sr. retires and JB is your knew coach! Go 'Noles!

The problem lies in that they did not knock of Florida, on the contrary they got destryoed by them. The good folks up in Tally are already calling for JB to go since they have dropped 3 straight and based on how they have played, there could be a 4th after this weekend. Now daddy won't can JB but he might encourage him to seek a head coaching job at somewhere like LU to get his feet wet.

I doubt that. One good year would certainly redeem Bobby in the eyes of our fans but not Jeff. I doubt anything Jeff could do at this point would earn him the head coaching job at FSU.
It's sad but our fans are calling for Bobby's resignation and that's mainly because of Jeff Bowden, right or wrong.
Unlike most of our fans I'm not even sure Jeff is our problem but at this point a change there would probably do us good. He was a great WR coach for us - coached some of our best ever such as Peter Warrick - so he has solid coaching ability.

As a Penn State hater (Go Pitt), I understand that a legacy could be torched with just a few losing years. IMHO, JoPa was out the door (strongly encouraged to resign - not fired) if Penn State didnt pull of the year they had - which I dont believe is worthy of #3 in the polls anyway.....
I just dont see JB coming to LU - no matter the rep he has in Tally. I think that someone familiar with the LU culture is the way to go. No matter which way you spin it, success at LU cannot be determined by past history - no matter what program or level you come from. You recruit a different athlete at LU, and unless you can play in that dynamic, it doesnt matter the X's and O's. I am sure a ton of you out there disagree, but that is my take. It all comes down to the type of players in the program.

so what is happening with the team meeting, who is or is not the new coach?

Evidentally, it sounds like the meeting is with Sam Rutugliano (or however you spell it), but he must be late...because according to rumers he is still at the mansion.
But he isn't going to be the coach, he is just talking to the players as the new AD.
That's were the rumer machine puts it now...I can't stand the wait!

If Sam is the AD - I DO NOT LIKE THE MOVE. He is an old head football coach, what does he know about running a successful athletic program?

I guess he would be the "Name AD" that brings in money...although we already had him as the name?!?!

It looks like the marquee is saying that we predict Dan Rocco as the next coach. How many of the precints are in on this one...or is it premature? I think it's premature.

Sam as AD or Sam as interim football manager, to run things until the new regime is in place (bowl considerations?)

Still hate it, but OK with it on an interim basis. Coach Sam did nothing while he was at LU to endear him to me as an AD. I just dont think that he has the credential to build LU into a DI power behind closed doors. He certainly didnt do it as HC. As far as the name - irrelevant unless we are living in the 80's again. People have forgotten him in the national arena.

Remember, gang, there is a coach on staff that has AD experience. Coach Sam as fundraising and football AD, Coach Dunton as internal AD?

It worked this year. Oops, never mind.
In my opinion, LU needs someone who is going to be an advocate for all sports. Someone who will get out in the community and shake some trees. Yes, a bit more than just a figurehead. Certainly, a set chain of command can be developed that clarifies reporting responsibilities so the AD works with just the head coaches, and someone else (Guridy?) deals with support staff issues. The new AD needs to have the wherewithall to be an on campus advocate of the athletic program, and not accept the status quo, simply becuase that's the way it's always been done. Finally, the AD needs to be given the power and authority to do his job, without the school's administration interference.

LUPITT, I agree with you on that one. If they cut the head off the dragon with the blood-letting of a couple weeks ago, a new, fresh start is needed. My only point was with the "external/internal" idea, is that I could honestly see it happening, although I would not be in favor of it, either.
(and yes, I will get around to registering)

I still think Rocco is likely the man. The banner was perhaps a bit premature but under the circumstances it seemed appropriate.

There is zero chance of Jeff Bowden becoming the next head coach at FSU without something turning around majorly. There's already tons of boosters pulling their money from the program over him still being oc, if he became head coach at FSU Tallahassee would riot.
