Then I think we have our answer. Folks down in Tallahassee sure are going to be disappointed.

Is Bowden out of the picture now?

Based on what I've been able to ascertain, he's not a factor in this decision right now. But I could be wrong. I'm not hanging out in Hanc0ck or the mansion these days. I only hear from some friends inside.

I'm a little disappointed right now that Bowden is not the man. I pray to God that Rocco is picked. He looks great on paper.

I tend to agree with you, steve. I think Bowden would've made a nice fit. But I'm not disappointed with Rocco int he least. He has solid credentials like Jeff and will be stepping up to be a head coach for the first time.
Everything I've heard from multiple sources on campus indicates Rocco is the man. I feel good about this selection.

Thanks medic...can't believe you had to spell it out for him. I actually hope it is Dan Rocco. He may not be the Lou Holtz type of big name but I don't think a big name is necessary to win. Recruiting and coaching is what wins.

the only name we've heard from the mountain has been his, for what that's worth

I'll probably have to stay off the board to compose myself if Rocco is the man. no offense to bigsmooth but UVA has all that talent over there and they can't win big. The fact he is Al Groh's right hand man should be enough to scare you right there.
Maybe I'll feel better about it tomorrow - but this is very upsetting.

I'll be a little dissappointed if it is not Bowden as well. It seemed like a good fit. We'll see.

I just thought Bowden would give us recruiting advantages in Florida. Rocco has Virginia connections...but we have to compete with UVA and Tech. But I'm still happy.

Like I said...I'd be happy with Bowden or Rocco. I think Rocco will be good. I don't know if he gives us the recruiting name that Bowden would, but I think it's still solid...according to the other posts...Rocco might actually be more skilled at coaching that Bowden, but I don't know...can't wait to find out...thanks for the scoop auntie!

never heard any official confirmation about us even talking to JB- which we couldn't do until after the regular season anyway. so if we're making a decision today, we probably never really had him in mind. (?)

wouldn't the same be true of Rocco?

Well when I had Dr.Falwell on at halftime two weeks ago, he said "We have to wait til after the 1-A regular season is over" FSU is still playing as far as regular season goes, but UVA was done on Saturday.

good point. I wasn't thinking "regular". I just figured everyone was short-changing UVA on a bowl.

I dont hate the pick.....There is pedigree with his father building a respected program at LCA. One thing is for sure, he has a resume that includes coaching at the high DI and pro level. He also is no stranger to the Liberty Way. With that being said, he seems to me to be the right choice - just not as spectacular or big named as we all hoped.

Did anyone really think that JB was a serious consideration. Going from the OC of premeir DI program to a HC of a DIAA school with stipulations on what type of athlete to recruit seems like a step backwards to me (no offense to the Liberty program). Wouldnt he be the natural choice to take his daddy's spot at FSU? Coach Bowden Sr. isnt getting any younger.

1. no official confirmation on Rocco
2. ask anyone at FSU, there seems to be little or no chance he (JB) will succeed daddy- the general consensus is he is in WAY over his head down there.

The fact is, all of the Bowdens have started their Head Coaching careers at smaller schools including Bobby. I believe he started at Samford. The other thing is the folks down here in Florida are not to fond of Jeff right now since they havn't really met their expectations the past few years. They don't have a lot of patients for not at least winning the ACC, but even this year dropping 3 straight to sub-par teams is rubbing them wrong.

I have read the boards, but you have to say that Coach Bowden Sr. would have a similar say that JoPa would have in State College. Jay Paterno has a similar rep as JB, but would have the inside track at State College unless Tom Bradley would have anything to say about it.
