With nice weather forecasted and the campus only being 10 miles from my house, I think I'll be in attendance on Saturday when the Flames and Bucs battle each other.
Since I assume many LU fans won't be able to make it to Charleston, I'll be more than happy to report about what I see at the game. So if there is anything or any player in particular that you guys want me to look for, let me know and I'll try and keep an extra eye out for certain things that may be of interest on this board.

I've heard A.W. Shucks is a pretty decent place to dine in Charleston. Any other recommendations for non-fried seafood?
Any good pubs where I might be able to find a game of steel-tip darts Friday night?

As for seafood, it depends on how much you want to spend. For high-end budgets, Hank's is apparently is the best (I've yet to go there, but my wife raves about it when she goes there with work clients). The Boathouse is a little less pricey, and is one of my favorites. I've heard good things about A.W. Shucks, but have never been there...Also, the Noisy Oyster is good if you like a more casual setting (but still with good non-fried seafood). There are so many other places i've never tried, so don't be afraid to ask around...
As for darts, that's not my game, so my knowledge is a bit limited on where to find a game. I know I've seen some people playing at The Brick. There's an Irish place called Tommy Condon's, but I'm not sure if there are darts there, and there is an English style pub called The Griffin, and I'd guess that they have darts (but I can't say that they definitely do either). Jimmy Dingate's is another possible place, but I've only been there once and don't remember if they had darts there or not.
Anyway, let me know if you need to know any more specifics about the places I mentioned or if you have any other questions about the area. I haven't lived here too long (and I live about 20 miles from downtown Charleston, so I only make it down there occasionally), but I can always ask around if I don't know.

Charleston's actually a pretty cool little town. Extremely picturesque.
BTW, what's wrong with a little fried grease on your seafood?

Oh, I like a little fried seafood, but I like to mix in some non-fried stuff, too.
Greiser's going to get some snaps this week. His big problem is that he hasn't been healthy all season. The shoulder continues to bug him.

hey chris, charleston is awesome. i have some friends that have lived there for years. plenty of good places down there. tommy condon's in downtown charleston is a very good irish pub, with plenty of dart boards if memory serves me right, it is on 160 church st. another place is mike calder's pub on 288 king st., and finally the rooftop on 19 vendue range. and of course plenty of scenery from coll. of charleston all over downtown! maybe i need to go to charleston this weekend!

A loss to Chuck-South or Norfolk St. means coach Karcher gets fired...at least it does if anyone in the adminstration has a grain of commonsense located somewhere in their offices.

I was planning visit some frinds from Charleston but they said the were coming to Lynchburg this weekend. I love Charleston especially the fudge shops on every corner.
PAmedic- Who do you think will be coaching the LU football team next year?

I think LU will go after a "name" coach as well. That said, I hope this decision is not made in a vaccuum. One of the reasons I think CCU has ascended so quickly is that they consulted with FOOTBALL people to get the program off the ground.
It would benefit LU to follow CCU's lead if any changes are to occur (which I now admit it's time).

When does Lou Holtz come for his visit? Maybe between he and Coach Sam, they can come up with someone.

Just don't come talking to Bennett about moving to the mountain. We'll have a militia of Horry County rednecks and Myrtle Beach soccer moms to protect our coach. ;D
I suppose it is easier when you start a program but we had a committee of some prolific coaches with roots in SC that helped guide our team to success.
Fisher Deberry Danny Ford Art Baker among others.
I hope you guys get it back on track.

While Bennett is a great coach (scratch that, awesome coach), I'm not sure he's what we need right now. We need someone to help reinvigorate our program on a national basis. We really need to get someone with national name recognition to help bring back our coast-to-coast recruiting profile. That may or may not be possible. But that should be priority number one.

Apologies, all, for the screw-up with our website again. I noticed my game preview isn't up today. That's gotta change. Gist: For a change of pace, Chuck South actually has something to play for. Chuck South worried because they had the week off before catching G-W by surprise, and they hope the same thing doesn't happen to them. Brock Smith pledging to "play hungry." Also, no more rotating Brock F. in on third downs. When they did that at G-W, the Flames scored three points. When they just let Smitty handle it, they scored 13. Definite trend there. My pick was Liberty 31, Charleston Southern 20. I don't know why, but I just sense an offensive breakout.

Throw out last week's performance against G-W and you can see why Chuck South is vulnerable to even pathetic offenses.
I agree. I see us when comfortably.

I like the optimism. a win would be nice, heck- winning out would be better. Not that it will change the outcome
