in reading more of the street and smith's previews i see that austin peay is leaving the pioneer to go to the OVC next year. that leaves morehead st., jacksonville and davidson left in the south division of that league. i know this is a non-scholarship I-AA league, but if morehead and jacksonville would fund scholarships we would have two established programs that could join. that could be better than a new start program. davidson would not join b/c they are already in the SoCon in other sports. any thoughts?

Morehead, Jacksonville, Austin, and Davidson are all poor choices as I see it. None of these teams were ever that good even when they did offer scholarships way back when. Jacksonville might be the only team worth noting only since they are in the football rich state of Florida. That is about it. Had a great basketball team way back in the 60's. Since LU can't seem to get into a descent conference then maybe keep the conference as small as possible so we can play some good out of conference teams. The weakest part of our schedule should be the teams in the BSC.

What about Phil Simms? ;D
Seriously, none of them are really viable prospects. Davidson would be the only one to make any sense. And they would obviously be joining the SoCon if they wanted to give scholies.
