I have been rather vocal about my dissatisfaction with Ken Karcher, and many on the board know this. I think he was a lousy coach and, after interviewing him, I didn't think he was that great as a human being.
But still, in the same way that Christ told us to love others, I offer this prayer:
"Lord, in this time of difficulty, we ask that you give guidance to the administration at Liberty. We pray that they seek your wisdom, and for you to let your will be done.
And Lord, I pray for Coach Karcher. I can't imagine that the last few years have been enjoyable for him -- but I pray he moves into a better situation -- at a place that'll be a better fit for him as well. I thank you for providing the finances for him through the buyout deal that will enable him to land on his feet a little easier. And I pray for the rest of the coaching staff -- that they too will be able to find jobs and provide for themselves and their families.
I do pray that the next steps taken will be ones that'll help Liberty rise to national prominence, and to one day become the school that Christians across the world aspire to go to -- in both academics and athletics.
With so many question marks and a cloud of uncertainty surrounding Liberty athletics, I pray that the administration seek your guidance during this process. Let yours, and only your, will be done.

As many of you know, the skeleton in my closet is that I am a big Notre Dame fan. In addition to spending time on this board (mostly lurking, rarely posting), I spend quite a bit of time on the Notre Dame message boards. To this day, you cannot go to any ND board on any given day without seeing a post ripping Tyrone Willingham. Coach Willingham is a class guy that was in over his head as a football coach at Notre Dame. For a lot of the people that frequent the ND boards, it is not enough that Willingham was fired. They continue to berate, ridicule and wish ill will toward the man. The same attitude is held toward Coach Davie, although time seems to have healed some of those wounds.
With that said, I find the attitude on this board very refreshing. I like that we can separate a man's inability to do a job from viewing that same man as an image bearer of God.
I echo Eddantes prayer for Coach Karcher and his staff and wish them success in their future endevors.

I have to say that this is the most unique message board in all of cyberspace from the standpoint of presenting facts and giving opinions as opinions. Plus the fact that we try to maintain a sense of decorum and that we all want what is best for the program (95% of us anyway). You can't find that combination on any sports message board or any other category. That is why I have hung around here for so long and will continue to do so at this point. I feel for Karcher as well but I know he and his staff will land on their feet. It will be a more difficult transition for some than others but "the steps of the righteous are ordered by God". This is a sad day in LU history but it can also be a milestone day in a positive direction if we beat UVA in hoops tonight and down the road (the next 2 weeks) make 2 very good hires. We will have to wait and see on the latter.

I second SCAR's point regarding this board. Most sports message board are nothing but cesspools that spew venom. There are people on this board that I enjoy hearing from on a daily basis. Additionally, you have a wide range of posters here. Old-school alums, current students, former coaches, media people, reporters, parents and relatives of current players, insiders on the mountain - show me another board with this mix. And we all exist together without letting things get personal or over the top. Live debates - yes, all brothers in Christ - yes.
Go Flames!

I agree with everything said here. We'll definaly be praying for a smooth transition both for Ken Karcher, Thom Park, and the staff leaving...and for the new ones comming in.
I have enjoyed this site as well. Before there were many people here (I think I was #23 to register!) I would always talk to my dad after the games...he actually had sky angel and would either watch or drive down...He even drove to the Youngstown State game since it wasn't far from PA.
But he passed away this past year...but it's been great to still have people to talk to about the games (and now there are so many - 150 registered)! Yes we argue, but it does seem like we don't make it personal. I think this is a great site for the school and I haven't seen anything like it anywhere else, either.

Hey, I am sure your father is watching from above. I really love this board, I feel so informed about all the goings on, and feel like I have friends on the board. I agree with all the previous post on thread. My my since 8:00 last night a lot has changed. Hope all works out, and that this is a smooth transition for the players as well, this has to feel like a major change for these young men, hope they all stay strong and take guidance in the Lord.

This is the best board I have ever been on. Lets keep it going. I have been on other boards and have been cussed out because we (people on other boards) had disagree on certain topics. But here we can debate about every topic and not let it get out of control and I love that a lot.

sportscritic:
Is that what you think? Well I am sure I speak for the rest of the board when I say we are sick and tired of your opinions. The only reason we don't cuss you out is that the board editor deletes our bad words. what value do you bring to the board - take a hike!
Just kidding - I just thought I would act like one of those other board posters for a bit!

I am not big on internet forums but I really enjoy this site. It is a subject that I enjoy, and the people are respectful of each other. While we all have opinions, opinions expressed are backed by facts and reality. If someone disagress, they do not ridicule other people.

We work hard here to maintain a decorum that is befitting for a school like Liberty. Nothing make me cringe more than going on boards for other so-called Christian schools where they display absolutely none of the traits that can be considered Christ-like. The past two days have lived up to that mantra and I am very grateful.

May we also pray for the players. In talking with my son Thurs. evening,he was hurting because he and many others on the team care quite a bit about these men, They are going into battlle today while dealing with all of the upheavall. May God's will in their lives be carried out as well in this.

I think it goes without saying that our prayers continue to go out to the players right now. We all realize that every player on campus was recruited by Coach Karcher and his staff. As a result they all bear allegiances to the man and his assistants. We pray that they keep their focus today under great duresse and give them a peace about the situation as things move forward int he coming weeks.
