Dwight Brewington!!!! This needs a thread all it's own. I cannot beleive what I just read in that other thread. He and Gomes used to torch Uconn. I was relieved when he left PC although a little confused. This is just amazing. That's it. I'm not doing any work today.

Also he's deaf if I recall correctly. Well maybe not completely. He wears 2 hearing aides so he must have some hearing. Anyway, not that that matters but seriously, I loved this guy at PC.

He should give you guys a nice boost next year in late December when he becomes eligible to play. And as long as he shoots 1-for-8 against Winthrop like he did last year at Providence, that's fine with me.

WEF whats the ruling on transfers and eligibility? I assume its NOT like FB where a D1A can go down to a "AA" w/out penalty- seeing as there's NO such division in BBall

If you transfer between two Division I teams, you must sit out a year. In Brewington's case, I'm guessing he practiced with Providence at some point during the fall semester, so even though he didn't play, that counts against his eligibility, so he will not be able to play at LU until the first semester ends next year.

LUconn I'm sad you over look my posts in the other treads...I dropped all this info on yall but i guess you werent ready for it all! Yeah, like i said he told me last night he is 70% deaf but anyways, he did actually play in a few early games if you look at the box score, so yeah, i believe he wont be good to go until this time next year, b/c then it's a full year

Depending on scheduling he may only miss 5 or 6 games next season. As soon as the final exam week is over, he will be eligible. Maybe Liberty can take finals in November next season? :-).

I did overlook your posts. I read the name in the first post you mentioned him and it immediately took over my thoughts and I couldn't pay attention anymore.

I know, I've always noticed that everybody always picks out the ceiling tile rule. It is pretty funny.

Medic: I think the internet report he was referring to was scout.com's story. No offense, but no reporter in his right mind would take a message board post as gospel. You're asking for trouble that way.

CT reporters, known as "The Horde" to Uconn fans, have been known to occasionaly include "unamed sources" in articles when it's so obvious where it came from if you read that particular message board everday.

26 replies, 3 vaguely complimentary. Not bad- we're improving, esp w/ the one guy who points out that his eternal soul is more important than BBall. Impressive.

LUConn ... there's no doubt a post can be a gentle nudge, but without corroboration and confirmation, it's worthless as far as print goes.

why am i a little concerned when I read the Providence message boards and they seem to be surprised that a school such as Liberty that has such strict rules is going to be the new home of a person of the character of Brewington?

hey, nobody's a saint. I'd say give the guy a chance- sometimes a change of scenery is all it takes.

They seem to characterize him as some kind of selfish whiner, no doubt only since he's left. I wouldn't put much stock into what they say. Although, you do have to think about him coming from a Catholic University, much in the same way that ND is Catholic, (i.e. not really), to an evangelical one such as ours. I really hope he's aware of the school's atmosphere.

I did a little research; Brewington was rated as a "super prospect" in 2003, recruited by:
Prov, Tem, ISU, NCSt, SCarol, EC, Ariz.

I'm sure Dwight knows all about our school if he's been on campus. Those are most certainly jilted fans up there at PC. I would take anything they said with a major grain of salt.
As for the ceiling tiles, I'm glad that rule wasn't official when I was in school. Enough said.

Well he is here and with only 3 semesters of playing eligibility left he will have to make it work or go NAIA. I think this coaching staff will make sure he has what he needs here. Welcome Brew!!! He and Trent Drafts at CSU would make an interesting matchup! (a drinking joke for you kids at Liberty that don't know what I am talking about ;-)
