I've said before, and I'll say it again for those fair-weather fans out there.
THose who know me on the board know that I don't tolerate losing very well (go check my posts during the last two football seasons). I also believe that when things get rough, yeah, you should shake things up.
BUT DUNTON WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN HIS SECOND YEAR. He took the worst team in the nation, and made them Big South champs. During that year (and a roster that he assembled save one starter), he did everything that we wanted him to do. And for that, he is entitled to our respect, and our support -- for four years. Okay? So let's put to rest all the "get rid of Dunton" stuff until March 2008.
Heck, look what happened the last time we got rid of Dunton and brought in a new coach...
Coach, you're the man. Thanks for being here.

Oh, and congrats to GOAT for attaining "junior member" status.

Speaking of GOAT, there was a mistake made during the recent stoppage of play for Larry Blair's 1000th point. I was listening to the PA announcer say that not since Larry Jackson had there been a 1000 point scorer and then I co-signed by repeating it on the air. I just realized what a slight that was to Chris Caldwell! My bad Chris. I always make it up to you though because I give you Texas guards a lot of air time. Anyway, I think LB has a chance to get to 2000 too and I know that has not been done since 1990 (Bailey Alston).

I don't care who is the Coach. Dunton is doing a good job but anybody is better then that Guy Hankinson we had a few years ago. When I used to watch Liberty play at Winthrop I had to hind my face because I was so embarrassed. Let's give the Basketball Team our support. It will turn the corner in time.

3+ years into this 5 year "top 50 program" building project and we are currently #323 according to Sagarin ratings. These are HIS recruits and that lack of rebounding must be attributed to his lack of rebounders (though i read what a steal and promising Big man Russell Monroe was when he was signed 2 years ago and what a great get Stewart was after signing @ Tn. Temple). More time is what RD wants and more time he will get, however time is NOT the issue or the challenge here. It is the ability to coach a team that has the discipline to defend collectively, and the toughness to execute offensively without turnovers. The statements that excuse our pitiful position among D1 programs like we have only one scorer, or we do not have a big man or we are a young team etc. just doesn't square with with RD's "Top 50" aspirations or claims. It is what it is: a barrel of b.s., and he is dipping us in it whenever he speaks about the time he needs to do the job.

LU has only won the Big South twice in its entire school history...once under Meyers and once under Dunton...I believe Dunton has EARNED the time...at least 2 more years, before we start to evaulate him...that's my opinion.

Coach D is a man with vision. Being Top 50 is a lofty goal. Name me one DI team who was ranked last or at least in the bottom five in all of the NCAA and won their conference and qualified for the freakin NCAA tournament two years later?
You are saying you would fire him because he lost a few non-conference games this year which has lowered the mythical Sagarin ratings (which you really think mean ANYTHING this time of year). We should fire him because some of his recruits were overhyped. It seems to me for every Monroe there is a Blair, for every Stewart there is a Martin. Do you realize what nonsense you are spewing on this board. Continue to be a hater - go ahead. Passing judgement on a team in December - now that makes sense. Go ahead and point out the glaring weaknesses. You never know what a team can build on throughout the year. You never know who or when someone is going to step up. Just because you have a weakness in December does not mean it is a weakness in March.
You obviously arent a former flame in basketball because you have zero sense of the dynamics of a seaon and the many different faces a season can take on. You must be omnipotent to know that no one may step up this year. Give the kids a break and pass judgement at the end of the year.

The real formerplayer need to get back logged in and remember his password. I have no idea who this other formerplayer is. This is why we constabntkly consider making guest register to post. Changes may be coming on the near horizon.

Here's the thing, is that sure we can't rebound... And sure, these are all Dunton's guys. But at the same time, we had rebounders that were Dunton's guys that were supposed to have an impact, but won't because they got kicked out of school, or kicked off the basketball team. We lost, what, four players from last year that were supposed to have played?

I think Dunton will have us playing well in the new year. He has had several setbacks(loss of players) but no seniors. I think Anthony SMith will be fun to watch and make an impact. Once he steps up that will take a load off of Blair. Blair and Dees were both on the VA State all first team which was the first time LU had two on thr first team. I am looking forward to Big SOuth play.
