Well UHL teams NC State, IUP (Indiana University of Pennsylvania), Maryland (even though they will be ACHA Division I next year-don't ask me why they moved or why we haven't), and Pittsburgh are definites. West Virginia got kicked out this year b/c they violated some ACHA rules so I don't know if they'll be back...Whether or not VaTech decides to reschedule is up to them...I doubt they liked the 16-0 score last time we met. Any other ACCHL (a weak league that we left a long time ago...just like we should the Big South) teams I dunno about...maybe Georgetown, they did keep it close against us (6-5 in our favor).

I am way behind on this post but am going to throw my 2 cents in. Hockey was real big when I was there and one of the reasons would be to get off campus but also because it was great to watch! You had a bunch of southern kids who have never seen ice in a rink before and the sport was somewhat brutal and that was a good show.

I agree Cheer- I think the rink being on campus will draw in some who didn't travel before, and may hook some new fans.

By the way, they've started clear the area where the rink is going, so they're finally putting some work into it.

excellent- which reminds me, someone on campus was going to attach pix of the new(ish) facilities that have been added over the years (say, since 1990)- most of which we old hags have never seen. Lets see 'em!

take your pick- as I remember it, DeMoss was 1 story (and only a couple years old), Football stadium was brand new/half finished- Vines was still a construction site in the ravine (I only ever looked inside once- no events there), no dorms beyond the "new" 3 story womens' at the top of the circle, Davids place was brand new, soccer field/track was brand new.
everything else was non-existent then! oh yeah- no parking back then either!

i read this in the NLJ. this is great for our hockey team!, and a sport our students support
LaHayes Underwrite Ice Center Drs. Tim and Beverly LaHaye were on hand for the groundbreaking ceremony for the new LaHaye Ice Center, April 25. The couple joined Chancellor Jerry Falwell and members of the Liberty University hockey club team during the occasion.
The LaHayes, both members of the Liberty University Board of Trustees, are providing financing for the center. The LaHayes also contributed $4.5 million for the construction of the LaHaye Student Center which houses the campus’ state-of-the-art fitness center, swimming pool, basketball courts and many other highlights. The student center has become the major hub of the mammoth Campus North facility.
As we go to press, construction of the ice center was beginning. It will be an NHL regulation-sized facility that will greatly benefit the university’s hockey team, which presently plays home games in Salem, Va. — an hour-and-a-half drive from campus The campus ice center will allow the team to have nightly practices and enhance recruiting efforts.
The team finished last season with a 25-5-1 record and ranked No. 12 in the nation in Division II. The rink is expected to be a major drawing point in recruiting top players to Liberty.
“Liberty will be the only Christ-ian college in America with an ice arena,” said Dr. Falwell, the university’s top athletic booster. “There are a lot of Christian hockey players, especially in Canada, who want to play the best hockey while maturing spiritually.”
The team is led by Coach Kirk Handy, a Liberty alum and former team player.

Uh, the team played in Roanoke, which was only 45 minutes away. Or had things changed in the last couple years? And there has been no construction. Who's writing for the NLJ, they used to have really good articles?

Well actually its a combination of three things: HillCats keep me busy, and I spend a lotta time hangin out with this one girl, and everytime I make the drive to Lynchburg since I promised more pics I've forgotten my camera BUT I PROMISE ON MONDAY YALL WILL GET PICS... And a construction update: the site is being graded...I think it'll prolly be finished before the football center (aka giant hole in ground) is started.

ATrain - get it together man! The next thing you know you'll be looking at minivans and investing in college funds! Seriously, give me the run down on bookstore stuff with the new logo. I ordered a car magnet on Friday and will be in Lynchburg in early August to raid the bookstore. Any help ahead of time would be great on stuff to look for!

Yeah H-Burg Flame, stop by and say hi and hang out.
FlamesFan-now you know why we won't be roomies...I'll need someone to hide me, not give them my exact coordinates right down to where I lay my head.
As for what we have in the bookstore with the new logo, we've got: Coffee Mugs, Golf Balls, Golf Towels, Beach Towels, Car Window Flags, Key Chains, Car Magnets/Bumper Stickers/Window Stickers (my favorite is a $1.98 adhesive that I've got on my back window...several others like it as well), Miniature Duffel Bags and Chair Backs for the bleachers. As far as clothing is concerned, we have several different cool styles in several different cool colors (half my T-shirt collection is Liberty t-shirts)...and I think we're bringing back the football sweatshirt which was really cool...you'll just have to look around and decide what you like best...and a word of warning to all men bringing a lady into the bookstore: we now have Tommy Hilfiger apparel.
BTW-what day do you plan on being in the bookstore?

Not sure exactly on the date A-Train. It will more than likely be on a Friday - either the first or second weekend in August. I'll be sure to let you know here. I'd like to meet you if you are around. I hope to meet more of the folks on the board as we grow. I'll probably have my kids with me so keep an ee out for cool kids stuff. Thanks for the breakdown on the new gear. If I don't have my car magnet by the end of the week I'm going to call your boss and blame it on you and try and get you canned!
Seriously man, thanks for your help!

We need an intervention for this young man. On the other hand, a few horrendous relationships, a stalker or two and you will be ready for a life of cynicism and bitterness in no time. Live it up. Enjoy it while you can.
