Folks,
I have heard some rumors about webcasting of our games this winter from the Flames Television Network. I have confirmed with the powers that be that libertyflames.com will have the telecasts live on the website. That means that nearly every men's and women's home basketball game will be out there for you to see! All but 2 men's games will be on the air this year (Cinn Christian and LC) and I think every women's home game will be on. Unfortunately I don't get to do the women's games on TV but you can see our own fsn32 in action for those games. I will be returning for my 3rd year of FTN as the color commentator and I am really, really, really looking forward to it. Don't be too harsh on judging my performance. ;D. Seriously, if you have not had a chance to catch a game on TV yet, you will be pleased with the production quality. Our crew does an excellent job with graphics, camera angles and overall production value. See ya on the Air in just a little over a month on Dec 6th VS Buffalo.

Also if you have iLifeTV you can watch the games on tape delay the following day. At least that is what was said back in March. Hopefully that deal is still good. You can go to www.ilifetv.com and type in a zip code or city to see if it is offered in your kneck of the woods (I sound like Al Roker).

The self-promotion is already in midseason form, Scar. ;D
Seriously, that is good news. Hopefully the stream will allow enough people online that it won't be an issue.
Are you guys still live on Liberty Channel? And has CSTV talked about picking up any games yet?
Your public demands answers.

Still live on the Liberty Channel for sure. Again, outside of Lynchburg you have to subscribe to the Sky Angel Network and get the 36 channels one of which is the Liberty Channel where you can see the Flames Televison Network. Not too confusing I hope....Not sure if anyone is talking with CSTV at this point. I am a little out of the loop in that regard.

Folks, All but 2 men's games will be on the air this year (Cinn Christian and LC) and I think every women's home game will be on. Oh Snap! Scar you told me to keep that jazz on the DL and now you blurted it out for all the world to see. I want everyone to know that I knew that FTN was not picking up those two games before Scar ever even thought about it. haha. ;D

Well, I hate to correct (DAD) aka Scar, but I was told by the Liberty Channel that the home opener for the women against Virginia Union is not going to be shown on TV as well. So that means you are forced to listen to me and FSN 32. This will be our 3rd year together and it should be a great year. Oh yeah, DAD tell me MOM great cookies last week look forward to you being back in town in Nov.

No Problem son. When she makes cookies for you that means I get cookies too! I fogot about the VA Union game on opening night not being on. I will be at UVA with Smoothie watching the Flames upset Dave Leito in his opening game at Virginia.

I'll be up in Charlottesville for that as well. Unfortunatly, this UVA gig is Dave Leito's audition to succeed the HOFer Jim Calhoun. So while I'd like to see him do quite well at UVA I'd also like to see LU kick some cavelier tail and then listen to the Sports Line the following day and hear Rich make fun of UVA for losing to the likes of LU and Larry pretend that he still has interest in is alma mater and jump on our bandwagon. Those 2 are such tools. Well Rich is, Larry has just forgotten his roots. Speaking of which do any of you media types know him? Larry Richmond? Class of a long time ago? Looks like this :

i cannot believe those two morons are still on the air!!!!! SCAR, you should pitch a radio show to WLNI or better yet, we need to find a signal and have some real sports radio in that part of virginia! this is the only time i root against the hoos, but leitao will get the job done at UVA, and has built a good first class for next year already. i do remember the last time i believe the flames were in cville....a big win over jeff jones and the beginning of the end of his tenure as the wahoos coach.

LUconn - I'v met Larry and listen to the show from time to time. The actually talked about the girls last spring. Other than that you don't hear much about LU, usually UVa or Tech. Bob Sterm who used to do the show in Lynchburg had a lot of LU coverage.

I can't believe you guys don't have even one sports talk radio station in Roanoke/Lynchburg/Danville. Down here, all the AM bands tend to be filled with Espanol and Asian stations. But even still, every town has an ESPN Radio or Live Local station.

I know Larry Richmond a little but I have not really listened to his show. I have done some stuff on air with him during the Big South Tournament week. I don't like Sports talk radio and I don't listen to it to tell the truth. So I really don't have an opinion on these guy's show....And Smoothie, Liberty has been to UVA a couple of times since the big upset. Gillen told me last week that Mel Hankinson brought a team up there his 1st or 2nd year at UVA and they gave them a good game. Coach D went up there his first year back but everyone was hurt and he had Freddie Williams and Jeff Riber (2 walk ons) playing significant minutes.

You guys have Jim Rome in Central VA?
(ESPN Radio is boring IMHO)

No Rome. We only have ESPN radio, The Sportsline on WLNI, which is about 2 hours and 1050 AM has some sports shows but they usually suck. I worked there for a little while and whenever it's a sports show it's like a NASCAR show or an ACC show.

Well before you go dissing on Larry Richmond (which is my brother-n-law). I am going back to that show here very shortly to be the producer. If you have listened to it since this past July I think you have noticed a huge difference in the show. We get some of the biggest names in sports on the show all the time. Yes I agree that LU dosent' get enough air time. But even if you don't like the show you have to ask yourself this, they have been doing it for 8 years now they have to be doing something right. I can't talk about it now but the show will be seeing alot of new things here in the next few months. Larry graduated in 98 for the guy who wanted to know.

Hey, I'm sure he's a nice guy. In fact Rich makes him look like a saint and you can tell that he obviously reels the show in when it's going who knows where. In fact, I enjoy the show a whole lot more when Rich is on vacation and it's just Larry. Also, I understand why LU gets no airtime. Who would call in and talk about them? Everybody around here is UVA and VT fans. But I'm under the belief that the media dictates to the fans what there interest is in. They could at least mention them once and a while since it's a D1 program right down the street. Especially Larry, he acts like the school is his secret past. Anyway, I see it less of a sports show and more of a guy show. I can't tell you how many time I've been yelling at them on my drive home to get off whatever dumb subject they're talking about that's unsports related. Anyway, I understand what they're doing and why they do it, but I don't like it. How does he feel that you're in direct competition with them on Monday (I think) nights?

He's cool with it, he hopes that I do well. I supply them with alot of guests. I wish I had time to be in competition with them every nght but when your a music station you can only do some much sports. But like I said you will hear some new things once I start and I think it will add and hopefully make better to what they already have going.

it is what it is...a man show and not much sports, maybe rich roth is the main culprit, but the roanoke/lynchburg market does not have a good local sports host/show. i agree that LU sports is not much of a demand, but they should give the flames a little bit of love, and larry should embrace his alma mater.

LUConn, you in Lynchburg now? I guess we will be seeing you at some games then. I have heard those guys on the air when I am surfing the radio channels and I didn't even realize that was Larry on there. I am out of the loop a little in that regard. Like I said, I don't really listen to sports talk or "man shows." Maybe I will tune in now that I know of the show.

Sounds like someone is lobbying to be a guest on a radio show. You forgot to reel off your resume/CV, Scar.

Hey, I've been in Lynchburg for quite some time. And I'll definatly be at the games. I sit over in that obnoxious "student section" right to your left even though I'm not a student anymore. It's on the right side of Gary.

Come down and talk to me after or before the game. Always good to see a Fellow Firehouse member in person...Do you mean Gary #1 Fan or big Gary that sits on the front row in the cushion seats? I think you mean #1 fan Gary so I know where you are. Those guys always give me love when I am headed back to my seat after we record the opening for the game. You guys are pretty rowdy....I wonder if anyone from the Redman Group is on here? Those guys make the game fun. For those of you that don't know, we have a group of students that come in with their torso's painted with red letters and red body paint to spell out Liberty Flames and they are loud and crazy. We always talk about them on the telecast. You will see when we webcast. Great TV.
