The school's demise is quickly around the corner:
Based on input from administration, faculty, staff, Student Government Association and students, Liberty University is pleased to announce the following changes to the current dress code, effective immediately:
Class Dress: must be worn in academic and administrative buildings before 4:30 pm on weekdays; and in all classes regardless of time.
Women - sweaters, loose-fitting tops, sweatshirts, skirts, dresses, pants, which would include capri/cropped pants and neat jeans (no holes, patches, or tears), footwear (sandals or flip-flops acceptable) Men - collared or polo shirts, sweaters, sweatshirts, pants, which would include neat jeans properly worn (no holes, patches, or tears), footwear (sandals or flip-flops acceptable)
Casual Dress: acceptable in academic and administrative buildings after 4:30 pm on weekdays and in Reber/Thomas Dining Hall for all meals.
Women and Men - Shirts, neat pants, jeans, wind suits, loose-fitting, modest shorts (mid-thigh or longer), shoes (sandals or flip-flops acceptable), no hats during church services for men. NOTE: Shorts are never acceptable in convocation or in classes (regardless of time), with the exception of physical fitness classes.

Vice President for Student Affairs

Well I sent my angry email to the dean of men with my fist shaking, that's really out of control.

W00TNESS!!!!!! THIS IS AWESOME...I LOVE LIBERTY MORE AND MORE!!!
Actually...this means no more incentive to participate in "spirit days"-unless they'll let us wear shorts to class now.

Yeah, I see what you mean. That's is unbelievably lax compared to when us old hags were in school.
Somehow I think the school will find a way to keep a pulse.

I was upset at first, but now I'm over it. I've longed for a way to distinguish students from Faculty/Staff for quite some time now. (We have a lot of fresh graduates working here these days.) This will do nicely.

So I couldn't have worn pajama pants and a wifebeater to 8 and 9 am classes at LU? Not sure how I would have survived. Not to mention looking at half dressed girls in tanks and short shorts, I don't know how you guys make it.

We had to wear ties back in the day because we were training for the professional world and they thought we mght as well get in the habit of dressing the part in college. Now just about every major corporation/entity has gone business casual. I think the dress code changes just reflect a sign of the times. No need for ties anymore.

Help me here. What is the big issue? Dress code changed. Now allowed for class dress are jeans and flip-flops, and for casual dress shorts in the cafeteria and in academic buldings. It's not a big deal unless you have to live with it every day, or unless you really thought that "distinctive" was important to LU as an institution. And if you want further proof that the sky is falling, University Blvd. and Flames Champion Circle have been repaved. "The Pit" is next. No, I'm not joking.

A. Basically everything I got written up for 15 yrs ago is now OK]
B. I don't believe you about the re-paving. I cannot fathom the concept. That blacktop was the one item nearly as old as SLY.

oh, part C. is "Flames Circle" what they are calling THE circle by my old haunts (Dorm 12) these days? It's actually "Champion Circle". My bad. Pardon me for getting that, "Furnace Court", "Flames Way", "Eagle Run" and "Liberty Lane" all jumbled up. They're all just so distinctive!

I must have been in a fog back then. Only street I remember is Univ. Blvd.
And after getting t-boned riding my bike down the hill past DeMoss IFO what was the School of Religion (?) I don't have very good memories either.
Think I smacked my head harder than originally thought.

I think most all of us have enough dirty laundry to do some serious damage in the embarassment department.

Well the way that I see is that Liberty is begining to take steps to move away from the Right Wing Wacko type of school and I give them all the credit in the world. Finally with all the new additions somebody has woken up from the grave on the school board.

I think most all of us have enough dirty laundry to do some serious damage in the embarassment department. I didn't do it. Nobody saw me do it. You can't prove anything.

Oddly enough, I've never been written up for dress code (or very many things...thanks in part to a very slack RA-FlamesFan knows who I'm talking about). However, yes, PAMed did PM me his dirt, and I told him mine (behind every angel there resides a devilish grin). Anyone else willing to own up to previous deeds?

A-Train is harmless, he is like a teddy care, does nothing but love on people. If you need proof check his picture on The facebook two ladies hanging off of each arm. But feel free to PM me your dirt cause I am curious now seeing how good you were in High School. The only dirt that I have is that I have played 50 cent at the radio station and was confronted about it. Other than that I am a clean man.

While it may not matter to you guys, they are also taking the word Baptist out of the seminary.... something that's ticked me off... oh and I like being "right wing wacko"

I'm cool with them taking Baptist out of the name as long as they stay Baptist in the curriculum.

I'm cool with them taking Baptist out of the name as long as they stay Baptist in the curriculum. That won't change. Liberty became an SBC school a few years back. I doubt that'll change unless the convention goes sour again.

There are plenty of SBC schools who have little connection with Baptist theology or lifestyle. We need to be the standard-bearer into the future.

That's ok. I take it back. We're not an SBC school anymore. Sorry for the mistake.

Looks like all the stuff I got away with for 4 years is now legal. No more loopholes to get away with not wearing a tie. Sad sad day. The girl in my church that goes to Liberty seems to be really happy, however she had already purchased most of her "school clothes" and so there was only time to make a few extra purchases.
