Don't know where to begin...JV is going to be a DAD? Crazy stuff. Congrats to you Vegas. I hope he is another Liberty Flame someday. Maybe Uncle Scar can teach him the patented left handed dunk...GOAT, your head is so big your nickname in college was "Rushmore." Remember, I'm from Philly and I had a big dome all my life so I have a whole catalog of head jokes LJ. Seriously though, an alumni game would be awesome! With the group you named though we would need at least 4 or 5 balls on the court ;-)

I can't speak for all the alum, but from the ones i know we not only need some new oversized jersey's but we better double up on some trainers and bring in a rather large tank of 02

LUstudent you would be amazed how much stamina we get when we are on offense and how tired we are on D. Kenneth Annabonam, Chris Caldwell and Phillip Ward are still around too. Paul Nazigian, Hildo are here. Go old school with Greg McCauley who can still fill it up in his 40's or Ed Gomes who is in as good of shape now as when he played in the 1800's. Just kidding Gomes fans! Harry Williams and G-Mart or even Ryan Mantlo and Jeff Riber are all recently departed flames who I am sure would love to come back to the Vines for one more game.

Hey Rep, I represent that remark. Seriously, everytime I run I 'm looking for O2 within 15 minutes. Its tough to find time to keep conditioned between work, kids, yardword. Yeesh. We've had quite enough on this subject, thank you.

Ed Gomes who is in as good of shape now as when he played in the 1800's. ohhh... that's funny. I agree, bring back Gabe. Does anybody know how he's doing? I try to google him all the time but all of the sites that will give you stats of leagues from the eastern hemisphere make you pay.

I will hit him up on Facebook and see how he is doing. I facebooked Woodson a few times this week and he is loving Lithuania and scoring points like crazy. For the old hags that don't know about facebook, warning, it can get addictive.

Teaching him will be a very good possibility. Showing him, on the other hand, won't ;D Another Liberty Flame someday? Let me ask you, Scar. How do you see Liberty (athletically, as a school, etc.) in 18-19 years? Just wondering.

Good question JV. by the time your little one is ready to make that decision to play football, basketball or Baseball in college here is what I see: President of US will be Will Smith. The Cubs still will be winless in the world series, Miami U will have a jail in the stadium like at the old Vet. Vinnie Testiverde will still be trying to play for the Jets and 92 year old Jerry Falwell will be sitting in the stands at PAMedic Stadium on the campus of Liberty University (medic winds up saving Donald Trump's life on a trip to Atlantic City and Trump gives him a Gazillion dollars). Seriously though, in 18 years Liberty could be where we all on this board think it can. I think if nothing else Liberty will be on the map and on SportsCenter on a regular basis by then. National recognition is the goal and I think it is attainable.

So is coach coming back to answer my question? What could he possibly be doing at this time of year that his highest priority is not answering my questions on an internet messageboard?

Hi all! New member to the board. Geered up for another great season of LU basketball! This is my senior year, so it is the last time I will be able to come to every game most likely. So, I am ready to cheer with all of my heart and voice! Go flames

welcome to the board JC, it'll take you the rest of your senior year to weed thru all the obnoxious banter on here- but we do throw up some good stuff (accidently) every now and then.
and on behalf of the "old hags" (self appointed group nickname) on here- its good to have more on campus points of view.

that should have read "more ON-CAMPUS points of view"
as opposed to MORON campus points of view. of which we already have plenty- thanks.

I see alot of the guys around campus. They all seem to get along. They are always talking and hanging around together. Some of the new guys (though I can't tell you their names because I haven't seen any pictures of them) have some good size to them.

Met Anthony Smith when down for homecoming- personable enough, seeings as he had NO clue who I was and its tough to meet and greet old guys at that age.

I don't see what Longwood would bring other than a another terrible RPI for basketball into the conference. Gardner-Webb would make the most sense, but they had some pretty serious issues a couple years ago and we don't want that in the league. Plus, didn't they just join the A-sun? Corpus Christi would be a good addition, though I don't agree with the basketball and baseball statement. They would be better than most but wouldn't be competing with us for the league title in basketball and us and CCU in baseball. Their softball team is dominant though, well, at least as long as they have that one pitcher.

realist ... Corpus Christi is going to join the Southland for all sports.
Longwood would bring another bad RPI for now, but the school is committed to growing basketball. I was over there Wednesday and chatted with their AD (who would jump at any invite). They're putting money into their facilities and upgrading just about everything on campus.
Plus, it's a logical geographical choice. It's an hour from Liberty and a shade over two hours from Radford and VMI.

It is funny that there were rumblings as to why the Big East would ever take Virginia Tech in football. They were from the back woods of Blacksburg with only one big name ever to emerge......if you want to grow a conference, take schools that are committed. Longwood wouldnt be a bad choice.

i agree. longwood is fully committed to hoops and upgrading their facilities. though they are taking a beating now, they will get better, and it is a great geographical fit for the big south. i remember when people said high point was a joke, and they have really improved over the years. the only problem i see is will PC want to be an all sports member?, and if so that would give the big south 11 hoops teams if longwood were to join. for some reason i like even number conferences.

Points well taken, guys. But its still a no. That's the type of school we would've taken in the league a decade ago. We have enough Longwood/HPU-type schools already. Unless somebody leaves we don't need anymore Longwoods in our league.

Since SLY's so down on it, I'm saying its 5-1 Longwood is in by next MBB season!
I'm not even taking sides here- its just the way the BSOUTH tends to violate conventional wisdom on EVERYTHING (see "scheduling" and "seeding").

I understand sly's points, but the big south is made up of small schools like longwood. despite the league's attempts to play better quality opponents, we still have a traditionally weak RPI. we are usually on of the bottom feeder leagues and teeter on playing in the play-in game. i dont personally care if we take them in or not...all i care about is getting a sixth football school!!!!

I think that if that ever happens, WU needs to start looking for a different conference. I've never been one to be huge on getting out, but Longwood would kill the RPI and WU was around 60-80 last year, I can only imagine if they'd had some help in conference. An at large is not out of the question anymore, so they need to be looking for the conference to upgrade the conf RPI, not hurt it.
