I've noticed online a number of schools are releasing their upcoming basketball schedules. Does anybody hear have word on what ours will be looking like? Scar, I'm guessing they try to give you a bit of a heads up.
I know the chances of a roadie to Texas are very slim. But it would be cool.

I heard something about us playing Lynchburg College this year but that's it

I would love for us to pound on them since that little dinky who-knows-what-division school get more coverage than we do. Preseason though, that wouldn't help our RPI.
From what I've seen a lot of schools are saying a few of their opponents this year, I haven't seen much schedule wise.
Oh and Sly, Durant will never step foot on campus.

I think we open at UVA but I haven't really kept up with it too much. I will ask coach D the next time I see him if they are going to put it out anytime soon. If not I will see if he will give us a preview. Often times the schedule is not complete this time of year. They may have 1 or 2 holes to fill before they release it to the public.

LUconn -- Touchy aren't we. How does it feel to be losing head-to-head recruiting battles with little old Texas? Get used to it if you guys are still going to be chasing the big ones. By the way, its the Tarheel Nation that should feel jobbed (and they do if you've been to their boards). He apparently wasn't seriously considering heading to Storrs for some time now. It was a Texas-Carolina duel with the good guys winning once again.
As for playing LC, we should've quit caring about that crappy little school years ago. If we are playing them I hope it is as an exhibition.
Several of the Southern Conference schools have been releasing their schedules this week, Scar. And I know a few dates & times may get shifted around but we should be fairly close to set by now. I know there is always the stray matchup that goes down over the summer. If we're opening up at UVa, that sounds great to me. A big name program in transition who will be overlooking us big time is the recipe for an upset in my eyes.

Yeah, this would be a good year to catch UVA...and I've seen App. State's schedule, but what (if any) are the other SoCon schools that already have schedules ready?

Wow..how did they manage to get South Carolina to come to their building this year? Unfortunately, the Gamecox are too scared to come to the Winthrop Coliseum to face some real competition.

I'm not sure how they got the Gamecocks to travel up there. But if I were a betting man it might have something to do with one of the Regents living up that way and wanting a close home date. You'd be shocked how often that plays into some scheduling decisions.
I know its not SoCon for hoops, but here is ETSU's schedule:

I went in the office today but they weren't in when I was there so I didn't get any insight. I will be out of town the rest of the week so I won't hear anything until next week. Maybe one of the coaches will come on here and give us a preview. That would be fun to have a coach as a guest wouldn't it? I know we enjoyed the Lacrosse coach when they were going through their rough time this year.

I'm guessing that secretly some of the coaches lurk on this board. I have a VERY strong feeling one of the football coaches who didn't register on this site was posting as a guest here this past fall.
I know in general that schools aren't real crazy about having employees mingling with the fans & alumni on boards. But they are always welcome.

If this post from the Chattanooga forum is accurate ( p197.ezboard.com/fmoctalkfrm1.showMessage?topicID=3149.topic ), it looks like the Flames will be playing in the San Juan Shootout, which is in Puerto Rico the week before Christmas. According to that post, the teams that will be there are Chattanooga, Clemson, Mississippi State, Liberty, Akron, Mt. St. Mary's, Univ. of Puerto Rico, and possibly Tennessee Tech.

Good eye, WEF. That would be fun to mix it up with Mt. St. Mary's again. Right, Scar?
Since Lawrence Roberts is now gone from Mississippi State, I like our chances down there if some of our new faces turn out to be the real deal.
See what you are missing now, David?

Sounds fun. One of the top assistants at Georgia Tech, Cliff Warren is a former Mt St Mary's player during my time. I have run into him a few times and we talk about those old Mason-Dixon Conference games. He has been with Paul Hewitt since the Sienna days...I may have to tag along to PR. Kentucky too! I know I will be at UVA for sure. Maybe Jerry Edwards needs some color commentary for those games?

We're just dating ourselves as midlifers by even discussing Mt. St. Mary's, Scar. But those were some of the most exciting matchups back in the day.
"So you want to go back to San Juan? I know a boat you can get on."
If you know what I am referencing then you are as old & crusty as me. Sad.

What an atrocious list of schools coming to Vines. LC? Longwood? And Buffalo? Unless Calvin Murphy can regain some eligibility they bring absolutely nothing to the table. Hopefully we'll have somebody else before conference play gets underway.

If Buffalo is at the level they were at last year (or better), they aren't a bad team to be coming to your place. They were a bubble team for a while and kind of got lost in a sea of similar teams in the MAC. Obviously they aren't a marquee name to sell tickets with, but in terms of competition, it is teams like that with which I wish WU could schedule consistently (ie. solid mid-major like programs, teams with RPIs around 35-60, etc.). Buffalo was 22-9 last year and was ranked 46th in the RPI, finished a game out of first in the MAC and lost by one to Ohio in the MAC championship game.

Yeah, Buffalo isn't bad. That will be a tough one to win.
I'm hoping ECU is a lot better than last year when they come to our place this year.
WU games known so far: @south Carolina, @ Siena, Portland, ECU

I was obviously focusing on Buffalo's near non-existent name recognition on campus. We might as well be playing our friends in Shenandoah again as far as this will be at the gate.
And once again, Realist come on and bite the bullet by registering. You have posted here more than most LU fans on this site. Ask, WEF. It ain't that bad, man.

A few things
1. Cincinnati Christian? who the...
2. Apparently we're playing Kentucky @ VMI
3. Radford at home in January?!? Booooo! That's always the senior day game for as long as I can remember. It's a great way to end the season. What a mistake.

4. High Point at home in January? BOOOO-the only reason we scraped out a win this past season is b/c the crowd gave them a ton of crap...and I'm predicting 3 OOC wins: Lynchburg College, Cincinnati Christian, and Marist (since we beat them last year).
