I have been talking about Arizona AZ Reid for a while now. I was impressed with him late last year. His 29 pt 16 reb performance at Kentucky was amazing and he had 22 yesterday VS. Longwood. They have a 3 pronged attack that is tough in Konare (big man), Akeem Scott (who came into the Vines Center last year and dropped 25) and AZ. They are playing pretty well right now. AZ could be POY if HPU has a good season.

I think we would be fortunate to finish mid-pack.

There is too much parity (or as one ESPN page 2 columnist would call it, putridity) in the Big South to say that anyone would finish anywhere (with the exception of Winthrop, who clearly is the favorite).
Take into consideration the fact that Coastal Carolina was the #8 seed last year -- even though they could have easily earned a #3 seed on the last weekend. One or two breaks go our way, and we're looking at hosting a first-round game. Or we could finish last. The beauty is that we don't know.

Listening to the HP/Utah game and Az Reid is scoreless and really struggling in the 1st half. They are down 28-16. Go to the HPU website and listen live if you wish...Just doing homework for the next TV game on Tuesday night!

HPU loses by 36, which is bad, but I'd say Charleston Southern blowing a 10 point lead with 3 minutes left and losing to NAIA Southern Wesleyan at home is worse.

It appears the Big South is rounding into form just as league play begins. Hopefully that signals our annual rebound.

I hope so Sly Fox. This team needs to do something......... High Point scares me against LU on Tuesday. They are playing really well right now and they will be ready against us. I hope LU is ready too.

Monroe grows that goatee like I suggested and we're golden, I'm telling ya. Somebody show him that pic and he'll go for it. I won't even take any credit. (YEAH RIGHT)

I am sure Russell has seen the pic. Believe me everyone is on this board that we talk about for the most part I would think. This board is really the place to be for "inside" info that is for sure. Can't wait to see the Flames tip off on Tuesday. I have pretty much been following HPU on the internet the past week or 2 to really get some insight on the game. I know one of the assistant coaches pretty well too and I will talk to him and Lundy and maybe a couple of the players on Monday. I am not gonna do any more "work" till Monday though. I am going to relax and enjoy some football and hoops on New Years weekend. Hope all of you guys stay safe!

Tell me this, is the 7'6 guy seeing the floor much? I know they have a bunch of bigs on their roster.

UNCA has the 7'6" guy, and he is out for the season with a knee injury.

CJ Walker is out for the year? He hasn't played much in 2 seasons but he was showing improvement over time. Maybe the extra year will help him by the time he is a senior.

I was referring to Kenny George ( uncabulldogs.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/george_kenny00.html) , the 7'6", 335 lb. player from Chicago who has yet to play a game for the Bulldogs. He came to UNCA last year and redshirted, and he got hurt before this season began. At his size, I doubt he'll ever be able to avoid injury. Walker has played in only 4 games this season, and in very limited minutes, so I'm guessing he's hurt too, but I don't know the extent of it. Walker is 'only' 7'1".

UNCA has so many bigs its hard to keep them all straight.

My prediction: We'll lose this game as HPU is looking to be one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the league and they'll be playing at what will basically be a nuetral court meanwhile we stil havent gotten our act together. People here will freak out thinking we're gonna go 0-however many games we have left and start calling for heads to roll, from our non-existant AD to our chancellor. I, however, will refuse to lose it and will reserve judgement until after we've played Radford.
