Yo givemethemic,
I love the name. It is perfect for you :-). I am glad that you guys are expanding the shows to hit a wider audience. So when I get you Phil Martelli at St. Joes or Jim Larranaga from Mason, we will have a good audience listening!!!! For real though, it sounds like Media there is going to be huge and you my friend being so young have the opportunity of a lifetime. Just take me with you when you hit the big time. Or at least give me a shout out from time to time. When I get back to Lynchburg full time I would love to get plugged in to some more radio stuff with you guys. I always have a blast with the NCAA tournament show...I also noticed that iLifeTV is going to be picking up all of our Flames Television Network broadcasts on tape delay this season (see bottom of Men's schedule) and I really hope Dr. Park opens the door for CSTV to join in because trust me they love the telecasts we do. Tell Katie that I will be at the July 28th game up here in DC and she should leave a brotha some Tix!

Scar you know you are always welcome to do stuff with us. When are you coming back to the burg, we got to catch up. I just got back from Philly and LA and did some NBA Summer Hoops games in Long Beach for 5 days. But feel free to call me I might be 20, but I always like getting other peoples opinions, espically former players and alumni.

Yeah I rolled with my LBC crew and Snoop is definitely involved in my crew. He gave me some new terms to use for Women's B-ball season this year. Hopefully I will not get in any trouble

Dude, I spent six months unemployed here in Houston. So I'm not near as establised as you might think. In fact, I'm trying to hustle some side-gigs right now as I type this.
BTW, I'm sure you remember how weak WLBU was back in the day. Seeing what has become of student radio is thoroughly impressive.

givemethemic -
I'd like to see features or quick snippets on Flames teams from the 70's and 80's. I have said it a bunch here but we have a colorful history. Promoting our past will help build some tradition. When you look at where LU started - to a DI program today with the on campus facilities that we have - it's nothing short of a miracle.

Well I want to start a weekly feature called "This week in flames atletics" Basically looking at the past.

It would also be neat to do a where are they now and catch up with former players. Also, for TV it would look really cool when coming back from commercials you show pre-taped things of attractions in and around Lynchburg. Also, maybe even do intros similar to those on FOX for NASCAR and Baseball with the music and the different shots of the players.

I like the this week in Flames athletics thing. This suggestion is not radio related but we kicked around the idea on this board of a 35 year anniversary tape for Flames sports. I was thinking TV footage from LBN, the Liberty Channel, any old game tape or reel-to-reel (old school). Maybe we could use some radio voice overs for the highlights, etc. use this highlight tape as a fund raiser for the athletic department and show tribute to some of those guys who paid the dues to get the program where it is today.
Thoughts?

gimmedamic -- I would just be happy with some full profiles of some of our high visibility athlletes. We get two paragraphs in the media guides and online. A full story of these kids backgrounds athletically & personally would help us connect more with these guys (& girls, of course). I find it interesting how they all made it to Liberty from the various points across the continent.
In addition to some of our football & basketball guys, a story every now and then on guys like Josh McDougal or one of our hockey or lacrosse guys would be cool.
I know it would be a royal pain, but iy would be outtsanding if some of the shorter features were transcribed on the website.
Hey, you asked for input.
PS - I would've warned you to avoid the womens profiles because of a certain stalker ont his website. But now that Krystal has graduated, its probably safe.

Well the plan is to Archieve the shows as well as do a few weekly features. I have a hockey player on my staff, The Lacrosse PA announcer is on my staff and the rest of the guys call of the other sports except for Football and Men's b-ball so we will have a very wide amount of player features. There is a show that is being put together right now that you guys are going to love but I can't say what it is until we finish all the details but it will hopefully be announced in the next few weeks. But I like the ideas you guys have keep them coming. These are really going to be your shows I really want the Alumni to get back involved in our athletic programs.

if you're looking for a feature with local flavor interview my old teammate Paul Johnson. Paul is a great guy and I bet you could get the locals to listen in on that interview.

Guys, I think we should do a feature called "why not Liberty." Use Katie's comments during the tournament as a lead in and then interview our successful athletes in the pros and the top athletes at the present and find out their route to LU. We could even expand that to faculty and staff and donors like LaHaye. (Tim LaHaye, why do you give so much to Liberty?..Answer? Why not Liberty...etc.). I can't wait to get back down there and start to get involved more and put some of these ideas into action!

Scar that would be a great feature. You know alot more alumni that have played on the various fields and courts at LU and this open to all. Who are some former athletes that you guys think would be a good "Where are they now" segement for our show this week in Flames Athletics.

There are a ton of football and baseball players but Eric Green, Sid Bream, Julius Nwoso are a few to get you started. I would like to even hear from Coach Rutigliano and Morgan Hout, Karl Hess etc.

I would like to even hear from Coach Rutigliano and Morgan Hout, Karl Hess etc. Sid Bream? Hmm.... I remember him playing baseball for my Atlanta Braves back in 1992. I was only 10 years old at that time. I remember his slide at home plate against the Pittsburg Pirates to send the Braves to the World Series and was going nuts. I actually met Sid Bream this past October of 2004 and he is a nice person and I told him that I remember his slide against the Pittsburg Pirates. I thought it was pretty cool meeting him.

First off, let it be known Sid was a few years bafore my time. After leaving the Dodgers, he was with the Pirates when I was at LU. Randy Tomlin went to school with Harrisburg & I and quickly made it to the Pirates right about the time Sid was heading down to Atlanta.
Most Braves fans consider that slide on that horrific throw by Barry Bonds their single greatest moment since they left Milwaukee.

Horrific or not that was not the only greatest moment since they left Milawaukee. I have followed this team for over 14 years. Maybe you Sly aren't a Braves fan. Keep us up to date givemethemic on when the Women's basketball schedule will be posted. I will try to go to more road games this season.
